Born on 29/11/09, Shanaye came to us only days before she’d have lost her battle with life. She was underfed, scared and with little trust of anyone or anything in life.

A very kind volunteer travelled the 4 hour round trip to pick up Shanaye (and her sister Skyla) and get them into safe keeping. It was touch and go for a few days with Shanaye, every time she would stand she would simply topple over sideways, she was so weak and had shocking bow legs from lack of nourishment.

That was then, and this is now!

A happy sweet baby girl who is bordering on tubby! Her legs have straightened out beautifully and that little wiggle bum just wags non stop.

Shanaye has managed to transform into a lovely house dog! She comes when you call her (especially if there is a chicken neck involved lol) Shanaye is trying her very best to get on with life and would do anything to please as she LOVES praise encouragement and reward.

As with 99.9% of Shar Pei, Shanaye is totally house trained and getting the hang of that walking on the lead thing, but would very much benefit from dog school.

At just 9kg, Shanaye is never going to be a big girl, she is only the size of a whippet, and she won’t get any taller, she may put on another kg, but that will be it as well. In all she is about half the size of an average female Shar Pei – the size we would expect to see in your average 16 week old pei.

Shanaye is learning to play and is great with other dogs. The one thing we would insist upon is a calm, loving environment for this little angel as given her past life experience, and how far she has come, we would never want to see her loose the confidence she has gained again.

This sweet little poppet has PERFECT almond shaped eyes and has recently been desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and wormed for both intestinal and heart worms.

A stable diet of minced chicken carcass, brown rice, grated sweet potato, chicken necks and quality kibble is the order of the day for Shanaye as is a warm and comfy bed indoors.
